I’m Evelynn Courneya, and this is my third year in FFA! I’ve participated in two LDEs and one CDE, placing finals for CCM (Conduct of Chapters) and Dairy Cattle Evaluation. Before moving to Michigan, I was devoted to the Yelm FFA chapter and was awarded Star Greenhand for my efforts. My first year in FFA was an eye-opening experience. I saw the dedication and commitment people in my chapter had to win, and I wanted to thrive and win myself. I want to give back to FFA because my old chapter and advisors were incredibly supportive and empathic about the dilemmas transpiring in my life. I struggled a lot, but FFA gave me a home, a place where I felt welcome despite my differences. FFA has inspired me to grow and achieve more than I already have, and it has become a significant part of my life in a short amount of time. I wish to compete at nationals, but also bring people into this organization because FFA teaches you numerous essential skills that will assist you in navigating life.
Hello everyone! I am Mikalah Freiberg, a Senior at Delton Kellogg High School. This is my third year participating in FFA and my second year serving as the chapter secretary.
I have been showing horses with the Equestrian Team since seventh grade. Over the past few years, I have stepped out of my comfort zone by becoming more involved in barrel racing at different arenas and levels. Through these experiences, I have enjoyed meeting new people, competing in new places, and spending time with others who share the same interests.
I joined FFA because of my love for animals and my passion for agriculture. After high school, I plan on becoming a farrier so I can continue working with horses and caring for their well-being. I hope to continue explaining my education in the agricultural field while also sharing my knowledge with those around me.
My time in FFA and being a part of our chapter has helped me step out of my comfort zone. I have gained confidence in stepping up in front of a crowd and giving a speech or a presentation. I have been able to step out and talk to many other people and gain friends from other schools and states because of FFA. Our chapter made me feel accepted, and like it was my place to be, I have gained so much information, been able to make new friends, and share my passion for agriculture with others who also have some of the same passion and interest with me. FFA has inspired me to grow and achieve more than I already have, and it has become a significant part of my life in a short amount of time. I plan to make the chapter a place for everyone to strive and build their confidence, as the chapter did mine.
I am excited for this year and look forward to bringing our community together while building new relationships throughout our chapter.
